    Amersham

Some of you may already know that we’ve started a new and exciting way of travelling called Home Exchange. Due to Covid it was impossible to leave the country, so we started swapping our home for other people’s homes in the UK. We’ve stayed in some really cool places – I guess the downside is the cleaning up before and after you leave your home BUT you get to stay in a house versus a hotel room and some of the houses are insane cool – plus it’s free! We have had to look after chickens in one place and got to eat the freshly laid eggs in the morning…

    Malaga

It seems I’ve become a bit obsessed with Spain – the weather, the food and did I say the weather? Because hanging out on the beach all day in February is just the ABSOLUTE BEST. I was almost in tears when we came home and they opened up the airplane doors to windy rainy UK. All I can describe it as it GREY. UGH. Anyway… I digress… Let me tell you about the wonderful week we spent here! Our hotel was a nice 4-star (Hotel Pez Espada) that had a playground and amazingly it even had a toddler’s pool but OMG it was like standing in ice and they were…

    Edinburgh… Again.

Oh Edinburgh, you are so wonderful. I think this was my 7th trip. And still I cannot wait to go back again. Every time we go there are so many new discoveries to make and the city is just so beautiful, plus so many of our amazing friends seem to live there which is so convenient! I was 19 the first time I went and loved it so much I nearly applied for Edinburgh University until I realised I would only be living in a Scottish city from September until May and I didn’t think I would be able to cope with all that dark and cold – lol. I…

    Private Swimming Pool in Crosby

I’m going to mention the dreaded C word… just a head’s up… Covid. Yup, Covid is making normal life very difficult and we really want to just stay safe and happy. We are also careful because Alfie can’t get vaccinated (yet?), so we don’t mix with many people but we do take him to weekly swimming lessons. We go to Waterbabies – and it’s amazing. When I was a kid, my dad would take me and my brother swimming every single Sunday morning and then we would get a cheeky milkshake from Maccy’s. I love being in the water and I want the same for Alfie. His first lesson was…

    Tenerife

Yup – you read that correctly. TENERIFE! We finally left the UK – it felt like a miracle! We cancelled four trips abroad due to Covid and then life got rough and well, long story short – I went crazy and with less than a week’s notice I booked us to go to a little island off the coast of West Africa. The sun didn’t stop shining – it was actually HOT and we ate so much food I’m shocked we didn’t sink to the bottom of the pool where we spent every single day. The Bahia Principe hotel was just epic – mini golf, jacuzzi, all day buffet (we…

    Manchester

Our nearest BIG city is Manchester so we do pop over there occasionally, but being an honourary Scouser I have to say it’s not my favourite place. I’ve heard a lot of people say you have to live in the city in order to really love it and once you do it becomes the most amazing place, but I’ve always felt it was just a bit… grey? Anyway, we have found a few fab places we go to for food and this time we obviously had to find something transport-related to do as well, so here is a round-up of our latest trip. Shoryu Ramen This is the main reason…

    Nottingham

I’ve spent a bit of time in Nottingham as I did an interior design course at the NDA for a couple of weeks and during this time I found some fun places to go in the city centre, but this time we stayed a little further outside the city and it was LOVELY. We did something called Home Exchange which I will tell you all about another time, but basically we stayed in a family’s home (for free) and in return someone stayed in our home. As part of the exchange we had to look after the family’s house which included their pets – it was epic. They had three…

    Prestatyn – Where to Eat!

We had brought tons of food with us to make in our little AirBnB, but the guidebook left for us to look through was filled with delicious restaurant options, so instead we splurged and had a fabulous few days! Patagonia Welsh Roots Our first night was the biggest treat – we saw a listing for steak and just turned up. It was delicious, lovely staff, everyone loved Alfie even when he mostly just sang the alphabet on repeat and it was just a really nice evening out. If you don’t know what type of steak you want the staff are really helpful too and we got exactly what we wanted…

    Prestatyn

Prestatyn is just over an hours drive from Liverpool, so perfect for a quick getaway. We spent four days here and this is what we saw: Rhuddlan castle Well this is definitely where I took the most photos on our holiday – wow! We were the only ones here even though it was a Sunday morning in the summer holidays. It’s only the outer wall of the castle left and we weren’t allowed to go up the stairs to the top of the turrets, but the grounds are lush and Alfie just ran around, playing hide and seek and generally living his best life. Apparently… King Edward I liked his…

    Glasgow – Where to Eat!

Here’s the post you’ve all been waiting for… We got a few takeaways as it was easier with our toddler to eat in our accommodation, plus we had friends come over and join us so it worked out perfectly. Here’s what we recommend: Maki and Ramen We are obviously obsessed with Japanese food and always give it a try. We were very surprised at how amazing this was – we got a takeaway and put the contents in a bowl, poured the soup stock over the top and it was delicious! I was drooling over my black garlic tonkotsu ramen so Glas-GO-GO-GO get them! An authentic Japanese experience in the…
